Registration :
“Shikaripara Mahavidyalaya” Shikaripara, Dumka - 816118 (Jharkhand) is a permanently affiliated unit of Sido Kanhu Murmu University, Dumka, vide Letter No. 5/S 1-35/2002/695, Ranchi, Dated 13.07.2007 of the Government of Jharkhand. The Mahavidyalaya is also registered under Sections 2(f) & 12(B) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, vide F. No. 8-208/2013 (CPP-IC), dated 17-01-2014. The Mahavidyalaya is a Govt. aided degree college. The Mahavidyalaya is run and managed by the Governing Body formed by SKMU, Dumka. The Institution has its PAN and TAN cards also.
Location :
Shikaripara Mahavidyalaya, Shikaripara is situated at the Shikaripara Tribal Development Block in Dumka District of the Santal Parganas Commissionary. Shikaripara is 28 km. far from the district headquarter in the way of Rampurhat (West Bengal). It occupies the buffer position of the States of Jharkhand and West Bengal. Shikaripara is absolutely a scheduled and rural area, where more than 73% of total population is SCs & STs. It is a very backward area and completely cut off from the main stream of the nation. In such a population, Shikaripara Mahavidyalaya is the only institution for higher education, which is propagating higher education since 1982.
Objectives :
Shikaripara Mahavidyalaya provides a model co-educational institutional environment to its pupils for higher education. Total 23 UG Programs of two faculties - Arts and Science, are taught here from its establishment in 1982. A team of well qualified and well behaved teaching and non-teaching staff are devoted to pursue the objectives of the Mahavidyalaya.
Stakeholders :
The main stakeholders of the Shikaripara Mavidyalaya are :
(a) the Governing Body, constituted by the affiliating SKMU, Dumka, is the primary managing authority. All major decisions are taken by this body and its decision is final. The Principal is the custodian and the chief executive authority to mage and run the HE Institution.
(b) the teaching and non-teaching staff are the second major stakeholder, who primarily perform the day-to-day affairs, i.e. teaching and administrative works of the institution.
(c) the enrolled students are the third major stakeholders, for whom the institution is primarily established, run and managed.
(d) the parents and community are also the stakeholder of the institution. They are invited to attend teachers-parents meets and also invited to participate in the events organised by the institution. Their suggestions and feedback are also used to enhance the quality of education.
(e) the alumni are the pride of the institution and an Association of Alumni is also working for the better of the institution.
Laws & Statutory Provisions :
The Mahavidyalaya is basically run and managed under the laws and statutory provisions of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 and the Jharkhand State Universities Act, 2000 (Adapted) and the directions and circulars issued by the State Government and the affiliating Sido Kanhu Murmu University, Dumka. Now the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) is also used to direct the Higher Education Institutions for its quality education measures.
Records of the Mahavidyalaya :
The Mahavidyalaya is required to keep the records as per the above mentioned Acts and the Rules. Generally, the institution keeps the students' enrollment records, the employees' service records,  employees' acquittance
rolls, records of income and expenditures, proceeding registers of Governing Body, different Committees and staff meetings, staff attendance and Students attendance registers, etc. In addition to these, usual official records are also maintained in this institution.
